Who is eligible?
- Researchers in Manitoba post-secondary institutions
- Researchers who are residents of Manitoba
- Researchers within five years of their first independent research-related academic appointment
- Experienced researchers within five years of completing additional training, where the research relates to that training

- Applicants with prior MMSF operating grant funding as PI, except eligible residents and clinical fellows later applying as independent researchers

Selection criteria
- Selection for the Shaun Lamoureux Best MMSF Operating Grant Award is based on the highest overall score in the competition
- The award selection considers the quality of the written operating grant application, oral presentation, response to questions, external reviewer comments, and the resulting overall adjudication score of the subcommittee panel
- Selection for the MMSF Kerry Bittner Communications Award is based on the best communication of an operating grant
- The communications award considers the quality of the oral/visual presentation to the adjudication sub-committee
How to apply
- Read the accompanying guidelines, criteria, and instructions before completing the application form
- Submit the complete application form with all signatures to info@mmsf.ca by 4:00 pm on June 1
- If June 1 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline extends to 4:00 pm on the next business day
- Ensure you receive a confirmation email from the MMSF Administrative Assistant that your application has been received by the application deadline
Processing and Agreement
- Following submission of a written application, eligible candidates are required to attend an interview process
- Applicants provide a 15-minute presentation followed by a Q&A to an interview panel
- A written external review is requested for each applicant and, if received, is considered in the adjudication process
- Successful applicants are required to submit a final report within six months of completion of the project or the end of the funding period
- Any changes in methodology or timelines should be approved by the MMSF

- Applications submitted in another language must include an accurate English translation.
- Reviews, grant agreements, interviews, and correspondence are conducted in English.
- Applicants should submit one complete PDF application.
