Who is eligible?

• Manitoba-based health researchers
• Physicians, scientists, social workers, nurses, and epidemiologists
• Other health workers involved in preventive, therapeutic, or rehabilitative care
• Researchers from Manitoba post-secondary institutions

Who is not eligible

• MMSF Board members
• Postdoctoral fellows
• Research associates
• Research affiliates
• Applicants with prior MMSF operating grant funding as PI, except eligible residents and clinical fellows later applying as independent researchers

Eligible expenses

• Personnel salaries for research, technical, and administrative support
• Materials and supplies
• Equipment, when justified
• Travel in special circumstances for field work or facility use
• Other project-related expenses

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Attendance at conferences, meetings, and symposia
• Institutional costs
• Applications missing required signatures or completeness
• Applications from MMSF Board members
• Applications from postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and research affiliates

Eligible geographic areas

• Manitoba

• Eligible applications proceed to an interview process.
• Applicants give a 15-minute presentation and answer questions.
• An external written review may be considered in adjudication.
• Results are shared after the December Board meeting.
• Funds are released only after all requirements are met.

• Applications submitted in another language must include an accurate English translation.
• Reviews, grant agreements, interviews, and correspondence are conducted in English.
• Applicants should submit one complete PDF application.
• Letters of support are required from mentors, collaborators, and partner agencies.
