Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered Charitable Organizations can apply.
  • For the Smart and Caring Children & Youth Grant only, both Registered Charities and Not-for-Profits are eligible to receive funding.
  • Two registered charities may apply together on one collaborative application, with one charity acting as the lead organization.

Who is not eligible

  • Not-for-Profit organizations cannot apply as a lead charity for the Spring round, unless they partner with a registered charity as the lead.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Fundraising or campaigning events
  • Political or religious activities
  • Sponsorships
  • Scholarships and bursaries
  • Retroactive funding for any project expenses incurred prior to the Foundation’s decision date

  • Alignment with the foundation's focus areas
  • Efficiency and cost-efficiency of the project
  • Capacity of the organization to develop, collaborate, and deliver the proposed outcomes
  • Community benefit and impact
  • Sustainability beyond the granting period

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed and decisions are made by August 2026.
  • If successful, the organization must return any required agreements and reports via the online system.
  • If successful, the organization must fill out the electronic fund transfer (EFT) form as part of the grant agreement.
  • The organization should acknowledge the grant in marketing materials, website, social media, and other communications.

Additional information

  • Applications are accepted in February for the Novo Nordisk Chronic Disease Fund, Hazel McCallion Arts, Culture & Heritage Fund, and the Catalogue of Community Needs Grant.
  • Applications for the Pendle Fund and the Smart and Caring Children & Youth Fund are accepted in September.
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Funding is generally approved between April and August, and applicants will be notified of the outcome.
