- Individual police officers may nominate themselves or their colleagues.

Selection criteria
- Consideration will be given to initiatives that respond to the needs of, or show sensitivity toward, Indigenous, Black, or other vulnerable youth in the youth criminal justice system.
Processing and Agreement
- The recipient is selected by a committee of representatives from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, the Canadian Police Association, and the Department of Justice Canada.
