Who is not eligible

  • Businesses involved in passive investments, property, houses, or buildings.
  • Companies operating in the cannabis or tobacco industries.
  • Businesses whose main activity is the sale of alcohol or gambling products.
  • Companies not located in Alberta.
  • Individuals with Indian Status (Status individuals) must apply through different programs and are not eligible for this grant.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Obtain and Complete the Application Form
    • Download the MEAP (Métis Entrepreneurs’ Assistance Program) application form.
    • Fill out the form completely, ensuring all fields are addressed.
    • If completing by hand, print legibly.
    • Sign the final sheet of the application form.
  • Step 2: Prepare Supporting Documents
    • Copy of your Métis identification card.
    • Proof of cash equity (such as a bank statement).
    • Resume.
    • Proof of business opportunity.
    • If incorporated, include a copy of your Incorporation documents.
    • If applying as an expanding business, provide financial statements for the past three years.
    • If there is more than one owner, ensure each owner submits a completed application.
