Performing Arts Internships 2026 Program Guidelines

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Professional theatre organizations
  • Professional dance organizations
  • Professional music organizations
  • Professional opera organizations
  • Performing arts creation, production, festival, training, and service organizations

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations outside Ontario
  • Organizations without charitable registration
  • Applicants in visual arts, media arts, writing, or museums
  • Performers applying as individuals
  • Co-op or degree-based internship projects

Eligible expenses

  • Intern salary
  • Statutory benefits, including CPP and EI

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Mentoring costs or fees
  • Administrative overhead
  • Co-op work terms or other degree-related internship components

Selection criteria

  • Strong match between the intern and mentor or host organization.
  • Meaningful career development for the intern.
  • Evidence of increased responsibility during the internship.
  • Strong professional development opportunities that complement the work plan.
  • Meaningful learning opportunities for part-time or shorter internships.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review program resources
