Meridian Housing Foundation — Rent Supplement Program

• Fully completed application (pages 3, 4, 5, and 6)
• Most recent CRA Notice of Assessment showing line 15000 for each household member aged 22 years and older
• Current lease agreement
• Signed declaration and completed Release of Information Consent Form
• Government-issued identification for household members aged 18 years and older, plus applicable supporting documents such as Permanent Resident or Immigration Status documentation, verification of student status, documents related to a separation and division of assets, and a Declaration of Assets

Who is eligible?

• Households in ongoing core housing need.
• Working households with low income or households between jobs.
• Households whose members are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, refugees sponsored by Canada, or have applied for refugee or immigration status after private sponsorship has broken down.

Who is not eligible

• Households receiving social assistance are not eligible for TRAB, including Income Support, Learner Income Support, Assured Income For The Severely Handicapped, Alberta Seniors Benefit, Guaranteed Income Supplement, and Old Age Security.
• Households without a lease agreement with a landlord in Parkland County, Spruce Grove, or Stony Plain.

• RAB applications are assigned point scores.
• RAB households are prioritized based on need as determined by the Alberta Social Housing Accommodation Regulation.
• Eligible TRAB applicants are prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Review the checklist and make sure all documents are included.
• Sign the application declaration, release of consent form, and any other forms where noted.
• Submit the completed application with supporting documents by mail, in person, fax, or email.

• Applications are reviewed for completeness.
• Incomplete applications receive a checklist of what is required to process the application.
• Meridian Housing Foundation conducts landlord reference checks to confirm applicant information and determine eligibility.
• Complete applications deemed eligible are placed on a waitlist.
• For RAB, complete applications are assigned point scores.
• If an applicant is being considered for temporary rent assistance benefit, Meridian Housing Foundation may gather additional information to assess the applicant's ability to uphold the obligations of a funding agreement.

• Applications that are incomplete will be delayed and may require follow-up documents.
• Landlord reference checks are used to verify applicant information.
• Applicants must report changes to their information and provide supporting materials when requested.
