Selection criteria
- Priority is given to projects based on sound, realistic, and evidence-based designs.
- Priority is given to projects that recruit Fellows from multiple foreign countries where bats are significantly threatened, species richness and abundance are high, and bat-to-human zoonotic spillover risk has led to past outbreaks.
- Priority regions for bat conservation and One Health include West, Central and East Africa; Southeast Asia; northern South America; Central America; and Mexico.

- Submit applications electronically between July 25, 2022 and September 9, 2022 at 11:59 PM EDT.
- Submit preferably through GrantSolutions.gov and search for funding opportunity #F22AS00398.
- If needed, submit through Grants.gov.
- If you are unable to submit through those channels, seek a waiver.
Processing and Agreement
- The Service will work with the selected applicant on the design, creation, and implementation of the fellowship.
- Once the recipient is selected, USFWS will be involved in all aspects of the MENTOR-Bat program.

- MENTOR-Bat is a global conservation fellowship program focused on the linkages between the health of bats, people, and the environment.
- The program is co-designed with the lead recipient organization, and the Service will work with the selected applicant on the design, creation, and implementation of MENTOR-Bat.
