Overview of the MEDTEQ+ — Impact program
The MEDTEQ+ Impact program offers up to $1.5 million over three years to support collaborative projects in Quebec that focus on the research, development, or evaluation of healthcare technologies. Eligible activities include innovation projects involving partnerships between private industry and academic or clinical institutions.
Financing terms and conditions
- Grant can cover up to 40% of eligible expenses for academic and clinical partners in Quebec.
- For projects significantly involving a Quebec SME: 40% of eligible project expenses covered, with partner company(ies) required to contribute a minimum of 20% of eligible project expenses.
- For projects not significantly involving a Quebec SME: 20% of eligible project expenses covered, with partner company(ies) required to contribute a minimum of 40% of eligible project expenses.
- Maximum grant value is $500,000 per year, for up to 3 years, and a total maximum of $1.5 million per project.

- Collaborative research, development, or validation projects for healthcare technologies.
- Joint initiatives between private sector companies and academic or clinical institutions to advance medical devices or health IT solutions such as algorithms, artificial intelligence, and cloud systems.

Eligibility criteria of the MEDTEQ+ — Impact program
- The applicant company must have research and development, manufacturing, or innovation activities in Quebec.
- The project must involve at least one industrial partner and one academic or clinical partner.
- The project must be carried out in Quebec.
- All project partners must be, or agree to become, MEDTEQ+ members in good standing for the duration of the project.
- The project must focus on the research, development, or validation of a healthcare technology intended to support healthcare organizations.

How to apply to the MEDTEQ+ — Impact program

Initiate project and identify partners
- Contact an account manager for assistance
- Identify necessary industrial, academic, or clinical partners
- Structure your collaborative project in line with eligibility requirements

Prepare and submit preliminary statement
- Ensure all project partners are MEDTEQ+ members in good standing
- Prepare a near-final project statement with required documentation
- Submit the project statement for internal review and proofreading

Finalize and submit application
- Incorporate feedback from MEDTEQ+ team
- Finalize the project statement with all necessary signatures from partners
- Submit the final application to the MEDTEQ+ Scientific Committee

Under review and awaiting decision
- Respond to requests for additional information from the Scientific Committee or government
- Await project evaluation and recommendations

Sign agreement and receive funding
- Receive the funding award letter if approved
- Sign the necessary research agreement within the specified timeframe
Additional information
- All project partners must be or become MEDTEQ+ members in good standing and remain so for the duration of the project.
- If you lack a suitable partner, MEDTEQ+ can assist in identifying eligible collaborators.
- Applications are subject to review by the MEDTEQ+ Scientific Committee and the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie, which may request additional details before funding is confirmed.
- Funded applicants are required to sign a research agreement within a few months of receiving the award letter.
