Overview

The MEDTEQ+ Call for Projects – FEMTECH provides up to $500,000 per year for a maximum of three years to support innovative healthcare technology projects focused on women's health in Quebec. Eligible activities include research, development, or validation of medical devices and health IT solutions addressing issues such as reproductive health, cancer screening, perinatal care, mental health, and emerging needs related to women's well-being.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Financial assistance covers up to 20% of eligible project expenses.
  • Partner companies must contribute a minimum of 40% of eligible project expenses.
  • The maximum grant is $500,000 per year, for up to 3 years, with a total cap of $1.5 million per project.

Eligibility

  • The project must involve at least one industrial partner and at least one academic or clinical partner.
  • The project must focus on the research, development, or validation of a healthcare technology addressing an issue related to women's health.
  • The project must be carried out in Quebec.
  • The partner company or companies must contribute a minimum of 40% of eligible project expenses.
  • Project partners must be members in good standing before the first project review.

How to apply

Assemble and confirm partners

  • Identify and assemble project partners (at least one industrial and one academic or clinical partner)
  • Confirm all partners are members in good standing
  • Define the innovative project in women’s health technology

Prepare project and application

  • Work with your account manager to structure the project
  • Identify technology and eligible expenses
  • Begin preparing the grant application with partners

Submit draft project statement

  • Complete and send a near-final project statement to MEDTEQ+ for proofreading
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions from MEDTEQ+

Submit final project statement

  • Finalize the project statement including all revisions
  • Obtain signatures from all partners
  • Submit the final, signed project statement to MEDTEQ+

Project evaluation and review

  • Final project statement is evaluated by the MEDTEQ+ Scientific Committee
  • Provide additional information if requested by the Committee
  • Project is forwarded to the MEIE if approved for analysis

Award and agreement signature

  • Receive the award letter from MEDTEQ+
  • Sign a research agreement within a few months following acceptance

  • Project partners must be members in good standing prior to the first project review.
  • An account manager will provide ongoing support, including iterative proofreading to strengthen the application.
  • The MEDTEQ+ Scientific Committee may request additional clarifications before making a funding recommendation.
  • An award letter is sent to approved projects, requiring the signing of a research agreement within a few months.
