Who is eligible?

  • Master Masons in good standing

  • Widows and family members of a deceased Brother

Eligible expenses

  • Eyeglasses, hearing aids, and other personal needs
  • Urgent utility bills and medical travel costs
  • Wheelchairs, walkers, and similar special equipment not covered by insurance
  • Home modifications and basic repairs
  • Limited household help such as cooking, cleaning, and transportation

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are submitted to the Secretary or through the Grand Secretary to the Benevolence Committee.
  • The Benevolence Committee reviews the request and decides whether to approve it.
  • Applicants are informed if the request is approved or not approved.
  • Any approved support is subject to the program’s conditions and time limits.

Additional information

  • Applications are handled in strict confidence.
  • Individual applications do not require Lodge approval or the Worshipful Master's signature.
  • Widows and family members of a deceased Brother should apply through his Lodge.
  • In urgent cases, up to $500 may be approved immediately, with paperwork to follow.
