Overview
The Manitoba Solutions Grant is a strategic Research Manitoba funding initiative for interdisciplinary, collaborative research that addresses Manitoba's pressing challenges. Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Lead/Principal Applicants affiliated with an eligible Manitoba research institution
- Projects with at least one knowledge user as a co-applicant
Eligible expenses
- Salaries, wages, benefits, research stipends, or hourly wages for Master’s students, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, or research assistants directly involved in the project
- Salaries and wages of technicians, research engineers, or scientists directly involved in the project
- Items directly related to research, such as chemicals, consumables, and lab supplies
- Small equipment up to $10,000 unless special permission is granted
- Travel and accommodation for collaboration integral to the research plan
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Payments to the primary applicant, co-applicant(s), or collaborators as consulting fees, honoraria, or salary
- Release time stipends or course load reduction support, except for college primary researcher and clinicians where applicable
- Professional association fees and dues
- Project management, legal fees, consultant fees, business development expenses, and administrative support
- Indirect costs of research, such as overhead expenses

- Applications are assessed through a competitive, peer-review process.
- Research Manitoba may determine the eligibility of applications based on the information provided.
- Grant recipients must submit an Interim Report and an End-of-Grant Report.
