Who is eligible?
- Red River Métis homeowners
- Red River Métis renters
- Single-family and semi-detached households in Manitoba
Eligible expenses
- ENERGY STAR® certified triple pane windows and doors, with a $300 rebate per unit.
- Free smart thermostat and free energy-saving devices, including LED bulbs, energy-efficient showerheads and aerators, air-sealing products, and other energy saving items.
- Free insulation retrofits and installation for eligible attics, walls, and basements identified during your home energy assessment.
- Free high-efficiency natural gas furnace upgrades and a $5,000 rebate for natural gas boiler upgrades.
- Free air source heat pumps and free ground source heat pumps for qualifying home retrofits.

How to apply
- Step 1: Submit application
- Contact the program or the Manitoba Métis Federation Energy Efficiency Advocate.
- Complete and submit the intake form.
- Provide income verification documents if required.
- Step 2: Eligibility review
- The Manitoba Métis Federation reviews the application.
- The applicant is contacted after the review is completed.
- Step 3: Assessment and upgrades
- A free home energy assessment is arranged.
- Eligible upgrades are identified and coordinated with registered contractors.
- Step 4: Completion of work
- Registered contractors complete the approved upgrades.
- Contractors invoice the program directly.
Processing and Agreement
- After you submit your application, it’ll be reviewed by the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) to confirm your eligibility.
- Once this review is complete we’ll contact you to begin the next steps.
- Once approved, we’ll set up a free home energy assessment to identify all the eligible upgrades in your home.
