Who is eligible?
- Climate Action Charter signatories.
- B.C. Modern Treaty Nations.
Eligible expenses
- Staffing and contracts.
- Investments to improve energy efficiency and climate infrastructure.
- Matching funds to leverage funding from the federal government or other parties.
- Risk assessments, communications, and engagement.
- Capital costs for designing and implementing robust climate infrastructure.
Processing and Agreement
- Before the reporting period opens, the primary contact receives an email with instructions to access the online survey and complete reporting requirements.
- Participants submit the required online survey and attestation form by July 31.
- The completed survey and attestation form must be posted publicly by September 30.
- Only the most recent LGCAP survey needs to be posted publicly.
Additional information
- Local governments and Modern Treaty Nations may use the LGCAP scope and boundaries for traditional services reporting or another established reporting framework, such as CDP or Global Protocol for Cities.
- Contracted services must be included in inventories regardless of the protocol chosen.
- There is no requirement to achieve carbon neutrality in traditional services operations under LGCAP; offsets and reduction credits are not accounted for under the Program.
- An emission source projected to total less than 1% may be considered out of scope if collecting or estimating it is disproportionately onerous.
