How to apply
- Apply online through My Student Financial Assistance File, using your Permanent Code and Social Insurance Number, or apply by mail using the Loan Application for Part-Time Studies form.
- If needed, have your spouse complete Schedule 1 and your parents or sponsor complete Schedule 2.
- Submit supporting documents through your Student Financial Assistance File or mail them if you cannot submit them online.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed once all required information and documents are received.
- The decision is sent by mail, and by email if one was provided.
- If approved, the decision notice states the loan amount awarded.
- If refused, the notice includes the reason for refusal.
- The guarantee certificate is then provided in the online file and must be given to the financial institution.
Additional information
- Electronic documents submitted through your Student Financial Assistance File must be legible, complete, signed when required, in separate files if submitted together, and in GIF, JPEG, PDF, PNG or TIFF format.
- Each file must not exceed 5 MB, and a single submission must not exceed 60 MB.
- If you mail documents, include any notice you received and write your Permanent Code on each document; if you do not have a Permanent Code, write your full name.
- If you disagree with a decision or face an exceptional situation not covered by the rules, you can request a review or make a derogation request.
