Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Incorporated production companies based in New Brunswick with at least 50% shareholders who are NB residents.
- Applicants must be engaged primarily in film, television or new media production intended for public viewing.
Who is not eligible
- Individuals, sole proprietors, or non-incorporated groups
- Licensed broadcasters, distributors and national film agencies
- Educational institutions
Eligible expenses
- Scriptwriter fees, story rights acquisition, storyboarding, and research
- Project synopsis, preliminary production schedule, and preliminary production budget
- Proof-of-concept materials, sizzle reel or demo, and graphic bible
- Market research and distribution plan
- Cost of pitching, including travel costs specifically associated with pitching the project if not covered by any other program

Selection criteria
- Complete financing secured for the development budget is prioritized, especially financing confirmed from Telefilm, Canada Media Fund, Indigenous Screen Office, Black Screen Office, Disability Screen Office, or National Film Board — 3 points.
- The project is in official development with a network, broadcaster, or streamer that has financially contributed to development — 2 points.
- Producer investment does not exceed 50% of confirmed financing — 2 points.
- The project is New Brunswick Content — 2 points.
- Screenwriter is a New Brunswick resident, screenwriter is unionized, or the applicant or screenwriter self-identifies as a member of an equity-seeking group — 1 point each; regional, cultural and language distribution, project timeline, overall demand, and available funds are also taken into account.
How to apply
- Review the Program Guidelines and apply on the Arts Culture NB Portal.
- New applicants must first create a user profile by clicking the GUIDE Create your profile button.
- The portal will email the username and password needed to log in and access the program guidelines and application forms.
- Applicants must read the guidelines to ensure they are eligible before creating an application.
Processing and Agreement
- Eligible projects will be batch processed after the processing date, with results communicated within 60 days.
- 80% of the approved grant is released upon signing the contract, and the remaining 20% is released upon approval of the final report and required financial reporting by the deadline outlined in the contract.
- A final report must be submitted within 30 months following completion of the project.
- Future grant disbursements will be withheld pending receipt and acceptance of overdue final reports.
