Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian not-for-profit organizations
  • Organizations working primarily or entirely with 2ELGBTQI+ communities

Who is not eligible

  • For-profit businesses, including social enterprises
  • Organizations outside Canada
  • Governments, public bodies, and educational or research institutions
  • Political parties and partisan political organizations
  • Organizations that do not work primarily or entirely with 2ELGBTQI+ communities

Eligible expenses

  • Travel, salaries and benefits, professional fees, materials, translation, training, publicity, and refreshments tied to project activities.
  • Administrative costs such as project oversight, office space, telephone, computer equipment, IT maintenance, and accounting.
  • Audit costs for projects of $300,000 or more.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Construction, renovation, or long-term real estate costs.
  • Activities outside Canada or focused on issues in other countries.
  • New or expanded service delivery, including career help, support services, and fundraising activities.
  • Organizational capacity-building activities.
  • Board or governance salaries, debt repayment, deficits, and reserve funds.

  • Evidence of need, community engagement, and ACS Plus consideration.
  • Budget quality, eligible costs, and compliance with funding limits.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Create an account in SADDEL
    • Use the online system to create and manage the organization account.
    • Review the help guide or instruction video if needed.
  • Step 2: Prepare the application
    • Complete the organization profile, project details, work plan, and budget.
    • Provide the required incorporation, mandate, and experience information.
  • Step 3: Submit online
    • Sign the declaration with an authorized signatory.
    • Submit the application through SADDEL before the deadline.
  • Step 4: Receive confirmation
    • An automated email confirms receipt of the submission.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed after submission and only eligible applications are assessed.
  • Funding decisions are communicated by email.
  • Approved applicants must sign an agreement before starting activities.
  • Progress reports and a final report are required under the funding agreement.
  • Recipients may be asked to take part in data collection, evaluation, and audits.
