Overview

The FMC+ grant, a joint initiative by RECYC-QUÉBEC and La Ruche, offers a maximum funding of $50,000 to innovative projects in Quebec that focus on waste reduction at the source, material reuse, and pollution prevention. Projects related to recycling are not eligible under this program.

Eligibility

  • The project must focus on at least one of the following objectives: waste reduction at the source, reuse of materials, or prevention, reduction, or elimination of environmental discharges.
  • The project cannot aim solely at fundraising to finance scholarships for distribution by an organization.
  • The project should not relate exclusively to recycling.
  • The project must be new and well-defined, with specific financial campaign goals and timelines.
  • Promoters must comply with sustainable development principles within their business operations.
  • The project must not have received additional national public funding or support from RECYC-QUÉBEC for the same project.
  • Expenses must be credible and related to the project's impact.
  • The campaign must have financial contributions primarily achieved through the sale of counterparty benefits, with individual contributions limited to 20% of the campaign's target.
  • The campaign must include at least one corporate contribution and reach the financial target through individual and business contributions.
  • For campaigns with objectives ranging from $5,000 to $24,999, a minimum of 50 contributors is required; for campaigns with objectives of $25,000 and up, a minimum of 100 contributors is needed.
  • The promoter must have a Stripe account; if under 18, a sponsor must be an adult.

How to apply

Initial meeting

Organize a first meeting with a project activation specialist at La Ruche.

Creation and information of the project page

  • Fill out a project page for La Ruche using the provided writing guide.
  • Include the project-specific FAQ.

Preparation of the budget and supporting documents

  • Prepare and submit a budget according to the provided template.
  • Obtain and present written confirmations from potential partners (letters of interest, letters of support, etc.).

Meeting with the additional financing advisor

  • Plan and participate in a deposition interview with your additional funding advisor.
  • Provide all supporting documents requested during this interview.

Submission and analysis of the request

  • Submit the application with all the required documents to the organization.
  • Wait for the processing time, which is about 3 weeks.

  • The FMC+ fund includes a requirement to double the campaign goal, up to a maximum contribution of $50,000 from the fund, upon successful completion of the campaign.
  • Project contributions must be collected within the campaign's allotted time frame to receive matching funds from FMC+ and contributors.
  • A minimum number of contributors is required based on the campaign's financial goal to qualify the campaign as successful.
  • Up to 80% of the FMC+ contribution is released within 45 days following the Stripe payment phase completion, with the remaining 20% contingent upon survey submission and verified expense declaration.
  • The FMC+ fund imposes discretionary conditions based on project nature to safeguard the platform's integrity and contributors.
  • The fund may retract funding if major conditions are not met, requiring reimbursement of previously disbursed amounts.
  • Documentation proving compliance with funding conditions may be requested during the final financial reporting stage.
