Overview

This funding provides up to $20,000 to support Indigenous communities, collectives, and organizations in British Columbia to share findings from completed ICCO-led research. It covers activities such as preparing and sharing materials, travel, venue and food costs, and honoraria for Elders, Knowledge Holders, and community members involved in knowledge sharing.

Activities funded

  • Sharing findings from completed ICCO-led research in culturally and contextually relevant ways
  • Knowledge sharing in widely accessible venues (e.g., community spaces)
  • Knowledge sharing in widely accessible formats (e.g., oral presentations, stories, arts-based formats)
Examples of admissible projects:

Share Indigenous youth mental wellness findings through gatherings and media

Mobilize coastal food security research through exhibits, stories, and pop-ups

Documents Needed

  • Research Development Grant Application (submitted by the Principal Applicant).

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be an Indigenous community, collective, or organization (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit).
  • The applicant must be based in British Columbia.
  • The project must be ICCO-led.
  • The team must have completed ICCO-led research and be ready to share the findings.
  • The project must share ICCO-relevant research findings in culturally and contextually relevant, widely accessible venues and/or formats.

  • Indigenous communities, collectives, and organizations (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) in British Columbia

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants that are not Indigenous communities, collectives, or organizations (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
  • Organizations not based in British Columbia
  • Projects that are not ICCO-led
  • Teams that have not completed ICCO-led research findings to share

Eligible expenses

  • Preparation of knowledge sharing and mobilization materials
  • Costs to share knowledge (e.g., dissemination in accessible venues and/or formats)
  • Travel costs
  • Venue and food costs
  • Honoraria for Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Holders, and community members involved

Selection criteria

How to apply

  • Step 1: Get application support (optional)
    • Book a grant support session with an Indigenous Research Liaison (IRL) for help planning the health project and completing the application form.
  • Step 2: Prepare application
    • Complete the Research Development Grant Application.
    • Confirm the Principal Applicant will submit the application.
  • Step 3: Submit application by email
    • Email the completed Research Development Grant Application to BC NEIHR.
