Eligible expenses
- Project implementation costs within the approved budget
- Reasonable indirect costs, up to the program limit
- Travel costs at economy or excursion class fares
- Per diems within the Centre’s maximum rates
- Eligible taxes and duties only where allowed by the agreement
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Development of new innovations
- Large-scale implementation of identified innovations
- Direct payment of customs, import duties, or import taxes
- Travel upgrades or rerouting at project expense
- Overhead above the allowed indirect cost cap
Eligible geographic areas
- GPE partner countries
- Low- and middle-income countries are prioritized
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are screened for eligibility and completeness.
- Eligible proposals may be shortlisted and reviewed by the Independent Assessment Panel.
- The Executive Committee gives final approval to funded projects.
- Selected applicants are notified and may be asked to make changes before funding.
- After signature, grantees enter a three-month inception phase.

- Selected projects join the KIX network and learning activities.
- Applicants may submit up to two proposals.
- Projects must comply with open access requirements.
- Selected applicants may need country approval before funding.
