Overview

This funding supports hospice, palliative, and end-of-life care initiatives and research for people with life-limiting conditions and their families. Maximum support is $30,000 CAD for programs/projects and $10,000 CAD for research, including grief and bereavement support activities.

Activities funded

  • Programs and projects to improve quality of life through grief and bereavement support for children with life-limiting conditions and/or their families.
  • Research in Canada on pediatric palliative care and/or family grief and bereavement.
  • Programs and projects to improve quality of life through grief and bereavement support for adults with life-limiting conditions and/or their families.
  • Research in Eastern Canada on adult palliative care and/or family grief and bereavement.
  • Initiatives addressing clinical care questions and patient/family preferences related to life-limiting conditions.
Examples of admissible projects:

Expand structured bereavement groups and caregiver supports for adult palliative families

Deliver pediatric bereavement circles with memory-making activities for families

Documents Needed

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a Canadian registered charity, or partner with a Canadian registered charity that can accept funds on its behalf.
  • The project must focus on hospice, palliative, and end-of-life care for children and/or adults with life-limiting conditions and their families.
  • Projects may address clinical care and patient/family preferences related to life-limiting conditions.
  • For research projects, the work must be affiliated with an academic health science centre or university.

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian registered charities
  • Non-charitable organizations applying in partnership with a Canadian registered charity (as the fund recipient)
  • Academic health science centres or universities (for affiliated research)

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations without Canadian registered charity status that do not have a partnership with a Canadian registered charity able to accept funds on their behalf
  • Research projects not affiliated with an academic health science centre or university

Selection criteria

How to apply

Step 1: Prepare application package
  • Draft the application describing the proposed program, project, operational support, or research.
  • Ensure the proposal aligns with pediatric palliative care (Canada-wide) or adult palliative care (Eastern Canada: NB, NS, PEI, NL), as applicable.
Step 2: Submit application by email
  • Send the application by email to the program contact address provided by the funder.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applicants are expected to be communicated with by the end of November 2025.
