Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Applicants at all stages of their research career

Who is not eligible

  • Principal applicants may only submit or hold ONE application to the Kidney Health Research Grant.
  • If you are applying as an ECR, you cannot include another principal applicant on your application.
  • Applications for equipment only will not be considered.

Eligible expenses

  • Purchase of materials, supplies and equipment
  • Payment of laboratory assistants
  • Personnel costs directly paid from the project budget

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Applications for equipment only will not be considered.
  • Indirect research costs
  • Salary support for the Nominated Principal Applicant, Principal Applicants and/or Co-Applicants, unless they are a lived-experience partner

Selection criteria

  • The project focus must be maintained between the Letter of Intent and the Full Application.
  • The Kidney Foundation wishes to give priority to early career researchers in the field of kidney research.
  • To be considered patient oriented research, research teams should show proof of engagement with lived experience partners or communities and highlight how the project aligns with a patient focused outcome lens.
  • The research should align with one of the priorities identified in the new KFOC Research Framework.
  • For three-year grants, the application must be scored in the excellent to outstanding category by the Kidney Health Scientific Committee.
