Who is eligible?
- Residents of the Northwest Territories who have lived there for at least twelve consecutive months and are pursuing any recognized educational or training program.
- Students who have overcome notable hardships as a youth and are working toward building a positive path forward.
- Mentors, coaches, or community members who support vulnerable youth through paid or volunteer work, advocacy, or leadership.
Who is not eligible
- People who are merely interested in the field of study.
- Applicants whose field of study is outside their primary program of study.
Selection criteria
- Priority goes to a student who overcame notable hardships as a youth and is working toward building a positive path forward.
How to apply
- Create a profile on the scholarship application portal.
- Complete the eligibility quiz.
- Submit an application for the student award through the online portal.
Processing and Agreement
- Each application is reviewed by the Student Award Review Committee.
- Yellowknife Community Foundation staff and Student Awards Review Committee members conduct due diligence checks and a review process in June and July.
- Applicants may be contacted with questions about their application during the review process.
- Applicants are notified in mid to late July, and every applicant receives notification regardless of funding decision.
