Overview

CIRO provides up to $100,000 to support investor education, research, and investor protection initiatives. Eligible activities include education or research projects relevant to the investment industry that benefit the public or capital markets, or contributions to qualifying investor-protection non-profits.

Eligibility

  • The proposal must be an education or research project directly relevant to the investment industry and that benefits the public or the capital markets.
  • Or, the proposal must contribute to a non-profit, tax-exempt organization with a purpose of protecting investors.
  • The initiative must be consistent with the specified purposes set out in the CIRO Recognition Order.

Selection criteria

How to apply

Step 1: Review program focus and criteria
  • Confirm your proposal fits an eligible purpose (education/research relevant to the investment industry, or contribution to an eligible investor-protection organization).
  • Ensure the initiative aligns with the specified purposes set out in the CIRO Recognition Order.
Step 2: Complete the application form
  • Fill out the Restricted Fund Application Form (English).
Step 3: Submit your proposal
  • Send the completed form and proposal to CIRO for consideration.

Processing and Agreement

Additional information

  • CIRO intends to use monetary sanctions to fund initiatives consistent with the purposes set out in the CIRO Recognition Order.
  • CIRO has a stated interest in initiatives focused on underserved communities or vulnerable investors.
