Interactive and Immersive Program, in partnership with the CMF, supports Indigenous screen-based creators in Canada developing or producing interactive and immersive projects, with ISO funding of up to $50,000 for development and $100,000 for production. Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals, including sole proprietors.
  • Collectives.
  • Companies.
  • Community groups.
  • Indigenous governing bodies such as First Nation Band Offices, Inuit Communities, or Métis Settlements.

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants in a state of bankruptcy or insolvency, or in the course of reorganization under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (Canada).
  • Applicants who are not in good standing with ISO, including those with outstanding final reports, defaults, or pending complaints or investigations.
  • Applicants who have received previous ISO production phase funding for the same project.
  • Applicants who are not in good standing at other Canadian funding organizations.
  • Applicants who are owners of a company not in good standing with ISO, when applying as owners of a separate company.

Eligible expenses

  • Production phase costs, including equipment rentals, studio rentals, production office, on-set costs, and fees.
  • Engagement with experts, consultants, mentors, knowledge keepers, and other professional development related to the project.
  • Hiring of key creatives, cast, crew, technical expertise, publicists, cultural advisors, knowledge carriers, community liaisons, or specialized talent.
  • Trainee and mentorship positions during production, production of promotional materials such as trailers, translation and language support, accessibility costs during production and post-production, fees and honorariums for community engagement, and facilitator and consulting fees.
  • Producer fees up to 10%, contingency related costs up to 5%, and technology costs including equipment purchases.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Re-takes or pick-ups.
  • Activities and phases of a project that have been previously funded by the ISO.
  • Development or production costs that have already been incurred or paid.
  • Activities that are carried out to satisfy post-secondary course requirements of an educational institution.
  • Promotional or sponsored content.

How to apply

  • Complete the Interactive & Immersive program application checklist.
  • Complete the application in the ISO Apply Portal.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications receive an initial eligibility and missing-document review by the ISO Program Coordinator and Program Manager.
  • If more information is needed, applicants are given a short period, maximum 10 business days, to submit outstanding documents.
  • Ineligible or incomplete applications can be withdrawn at any time, and applicants will be notified.
  • Successful applicants receive a contribution agreement to review, sign, and return, and must complete an electronic funds authorization form.
  • Payment is processed within one month of successfully submitting all necessary documentation, and successful applicants eligible for additional CMF funding will create a profile on CMF’s application portal Dialogue and sign a funding contract directly with the CMF.
