Who is eligible?
- Groups and organizations that own or manage a section of the Trans Canada Trail
- Trail-sector organizations for certain eligible projects
- Indigenous communities and organizations
- Organizations partnering with Indigenous communities
Eligible expenses
- Professional and contractor services, including consulting fees, site inspections, and laboratory fees
- Materials and equipment, whether rented, purchased, or donated at fair market value
- Labour costs for project work
- Transportation and mileage

- Volunteer hours
- Land access or use rights for private land
- Land purchases, taxes, application fees, and contingencies
- Municipal staff salaries already covered by municipal budgets

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed quarterly according to the intake schedule.
- Applicants receive a response by the dates published for each intake period.
- Selected projects may be verified and assessed by Trans Canada Trail.
- Approved applicants must sign a contribution agreement before payments begin.
- Reporting is required during and after the project under the agreement.
Additional information
- Applications are reviewed four times a year.
- The fund supports multiple streams through a single application process.
- Approved applicants must acknowledge Trans Canada Trail publicly during the grant period.
- Some reporting can be completed by phone or videoconference for Indigenous community projects.
