Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Indigenous communities and Indigenous organizations
  • Indigenous communities and organizations currently involved in a federal impact assessment (IA), environmental assessment (EA), regional assessment (RA), strategic assessment (SA), and/or associated follow-up activities, or anticipated participating in an assessment in the near future

Eligible expenses

  • Reporting Costs
  • Professional Services
  • Travel Expenses (including travel kilometres/flights, meals, incidentals and accommodation)
  • Honoraria for Elders and ceremonial offerings (including costs associated with providing Indigenous or community knowledge relevant to the engagement activity)

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Capital expenditures
  • Construction costs
  • Lost income
  • Building renovations
  • Activities duplicating already funded work

Selection criteria

  • Indigenous group requires capacity and has demonstrated an urgent need to participate in an assessment and/or associated follow-up activities
  • Indigenous community is not currently receiving Indigenous Capacity Support funding directly or through an associated Indigenous third-party delivery organization
  • The funding application clearly identifies targeted and appropriate results, provides a clear workplan and budget, and ensures or identifies and defines required human resources are in place

How to apply

  • Complete the application form using your preferred Word or PDF format and send it to the Indigenous Engagement and Partnerships team

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by a Funding Selection Committee and IAAC officials.
  • IAAC may request additional information or modifications before a decision.
  • Successful applicants receive a contribution agreement for signature.
  • Payments are made under the agreement, with final payment after reporting requirements are met.
