Overview

This program provides financial assistance of up to $4,000 per business to support municipalities updating commercial signage in line with local linguistic reality. It aims to strengthen French linguistic vitality by helping municipal members design, produce and install new external signage in their communities.

  • Updating and installing new commercial signage to reflect the community’s linguistic landscape.
  • Developing and adopting a municipal policy or by-law on commercial language signage.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a municipality that is a member of the AFMNB.
  • Municipal council must adopt a resolution confirming participation in the project.
  • Municipality must commit to adopting a commercial signage language policy by March 2026.
  • Installation of the new signage must be completed by March 31, 2026.
  • A final report with receipts must be submitted by May 2026.

  • Municipalities that are members of the Association francophone des municipalités du Nouveau-Brunswick (AFMNB).

Eligible expenses

  • External design, fabrication and installation costs for commercial signage.

Eligible geographic areas

  • Municipalities in the province of New Brunswick that are AFMNB members.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare Municipal Commitment
    • Adopt a municipal council resolution confirming participation in the Afficher le paysage en français project.
    • Confirm the municipality’s commitment to adopt a commercial signage language policy before March 2026.
  • Step 2: Compile Application Information
    • Gather contact information of the person authorized to sign funding applications.
    • Prepare responses to all questions listed on the online form.
    • Assemble all receipts into a single PDF, in chronological order with clear net totals.
  • Step 3: Complete Online Form
    • Access the encrypted Jotform platform via the provided web link.
    • Enter all required information and upload the receipts PDF.
    • Ensure all items in the reminder list are completed before starting, as work cannot be saved mid-way.
  • Step 4: Submit Application
    • Submit the full application via the online form by the end of the day on March 23, 2026.
    • Click SUBMIT before closing the window to avoid losing the information entered.

Additional information

  • Only expenses supported by detailed proof of payment will be accepted for reimbursement.
  • The final report must be submitted by May 2026.
  • The total fund envelope will be shared among municipalities based on the number of applications received.
  • The fund is financed by the New Brunswick Department of Intergovernmental Affairs through the Program for the Provision of Services in the Official Languages.
