It supports novel technologies to reduce food waste and loss across the supply chain, with Stage 1 support of approximately $100,000 for selected semi-finalists. Eligible activities include developing shelf-life extension technologies for perishables (Stream C) and technologies that transform surplus or wasted food into new products (Stream D).
Activities funded
- Development of technologies that extend the storage life of perishable foods by slowing degradation mechanisms (Stream C).
- Development of technologies that convert surplus food, food by-products, or food waste into food for humans (Stream D).
- Development of technologies that convert surplus food, food by-products, or food waste into food for animals or insects (Stream D).
- Development of technologies that convert surplus food, food by-products, or food waste into non-food products (Stream D).
