Eligibility

  • Submit a Phase 1 concept application proposing a novel food production technology, system, or approach.
  • The proposed solution must aim to maximize safe, nutritious, and palatable food output with minimal inputs and minimal waste.
  • The concept must address food production needs for long-duration space missions (three-year round-trip, no resupply) for a four-person crew.
  • The solution must have potential to improve food accessibility on Earth (including urban centres and remote or harsh environments).

  • Eligible innovators submitting a Phase 1 concept application.

Processing and Agreement

  • Up to 10 semi-finalists were to be announced in Fall 2021.
