Who is eligible?
- Researchers, knowledge users, scholars and health professionals affiliated with Canadian postsecondary institutions and/or their affiliated institutions including hospitals, research institutes and other non-profit organizations with a mandate for health research and/or knowledge translation.
- Undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral scholars engaged in research and research-related activities.
- An individual affiliated with an Indigenous non-governmental organization in Canada with a research and/or knowledge translation mandate.
- Researchers and scholars working in municipal, provincial and territorial government where the activity which forms the subject matter of the funding is not being funded by specific programs of those municipal, provincial and territorial governments.
- Non-governmental organizations including community organizations and regional health authorities with a research or knowledge translation mandate.

Selection criteria
- Videos, infographics and podcasts are scored by peer review (90%) and public voting (10%); arts-based knowledge sharing is scored by a selection committee (40%) and public voting (60%).
- Purpose: the purpose is clear, the information is practical and relevant to the intended audience, and a clear description of the evidence used is included.
- Clarity, organization, engagement, and inclusion, diversity and accessibility are assessed for videos, infographics and podcasts.
- Arts-based knowledge sharing is assessed on ability to spark reflection on the research or knowledge centred on human development, child and youth health.
- Arts-based knowledge sharing is also assessed on illuminative quality and meaningful aesthetic and expressive qualities.
How to apply
- Complete the online registration form by September 21, 2026.
- Complete the online submission form by October 5, 2026.
Processing and Agreement
- Submissions are first assessed for relevance, and non-relevant productions are removed from the contest.
- Each production is then evaluated through peer review and a public vote, weighted 90% and 10% respectively.
- Within each category, funded submissions are selected in rank order, with the highest-scoring first.
- The names of funded candidates will be published on the CIHR website.

- The 2026 competition is offered in partnership with the CIHR Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health.
- Individuals / groups retain copyright over their submissions.
- CIHR will not use the submissions outside of the parameters of this competition.
- Winning submissions will be promoted through IHDCYH’s channels (website, newsletter, and social media).
