Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Principal investigators affiliated with a Qualified Donee in Canada, as recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency, may apply.
  • The eligible organization can include post-secondary institutions, some research hospitals, and other charitable organizations.

Eligible expenses

  • Indirect or overhead costs, included within the total requested budget.
  • Costs for clinicians compensated through a fee-for-service model, including time to participate in the project, if reasonable, directly attributable to the research activities, and clearly outlined in the budget.

Selection criteria

  • Projects that are purely basic or pre-clinical without a defined clinical pathway and time-bound milestones during the grant term are unlikely to be competitive.
  • Projects focused exclusively or primarily on geriatric populations may not score well in review.
  • Reasonableness and alignment with project scope are assessed at the full proposal stage for indirect costs.
