Who is eligible?
- Accredited provincial secondary schools.
- Community organizations or agencies working extensively in race relations.
- Individuals and organizations registered in Ontario for the David C. Onley Award.
Who is not eligible
- Self-nominations are not allowed.
- Deceased persons cannot be nominated.
- Current elected federal, provincial, or municipal politicians cannot be nominated.
- Current public appointees cannot be nominated for the Lincoln M. Alexander Community Award.

- Step 2: Create an account or sign in
- Use the Ontario Honours and Awards Portal.
- Step 3: Submit the nomination
- Complete and submit the nomination on the portal.
Processing and Agreement
- Nominations are reviewed after submission.
- An independent selection committee evaluates the nominations for the Lincoln M. Alexander Award and most David C. Onley categories.
- The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility determines eligibility for the Honour Roll category.
- Recipients are selected and the award is presented annually at the Lieutenant Governors’ Legacy Awards Ceremony.
Additional information
- Volunteer activities in other areas and academic performance are not taken into consideration for the Lincoln M. Alexander Award.
- For the David C. Onley Award, at least two signed testimonial letters are not required for the Honour Roll category.
- Both awards are presented annually at the Lieutenant Governors’ Legacy Awards Ceremony.
