Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Who is not eligible

  • Students who are not currently enrolled at Sheridan College
  • Students not in good academic or conduct standing
  • Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.0
  • Organizations that are not non-profits

Eligible expenses

  • Additional approved intern wages reimbursed to the non-profit

  • Order of application submission
  • Match between the organization’s needs and the student’s area of interest

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare the host or student application
    • Obtain the correct application from the Sheridan College Foundation office or website.
    • Review the program guidelines and complete the required form.
  • Step 2: Submit the application
    • Send the completed application to the Sheridan College Foundation by email or mail.
    • Host applications are submitted to the Foundation office; student applications are submitted to Stephanie Ellis.
  • Step 3: Complete follow-up requirements
    • If selected, complete the required student employment paperwork.
    • Host organizations may need to provide a job description and other internship details.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed and approved one semester at a time.
  • Host organizations are selected based on eligibility and application date order.
  • Students are matched to host organizations based on organizational needs and student interests.
  • Selected applicants must complete the required paperwork before starting.
  • The Sheridan College Foundation notifies the host organization when the student may begin work.

Additional information

  • Applications are reviewed one semester at a time.
  • Organizations may be limited to two years of internship eligibility.
  • Students must complete required university employment paperwork before starting.
  • Interns are paid through Sheridan College, which acts as employer of record.
