Historical societies assistance program

• The current application form
• Completed Financial Form sections 1.5, 2.8 and 5.0
• A copy of the organization’s by-laws
• Copies of the most recent issues of the organization’s publications printed over the last fiscal year
• Any supporting documents indicated by a paperclip icon in the application form

Who is eligible?

• Non-profit organizations based in New Brunswick and incorporated as a non-profit organization under the Companies Act

Who is not eligible

• Organizations currently receiving funding through the Community Museums Assistance Program or the Book Publishing (Periodicals) – Operations Grant

Eligible expenses

• Costs linked to producing and distributing periodicals
• Publishing costs for bulletins, magazines, newsletters, and similar materials

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Activities completed before the program deadline

Eligible geographic areas

• New Brunswick

• Operational and budget information: active committees’ activity reports (3), strategic planning (3), financial information, previous fiscal year (3), projected budget, current fiscal year (3), revenue diversification (1.5), voting to approve an annual budget at AGM (1.5).
• Organizational management: board of directors regular meetings and participation (3), personnel other than volunteers (1.5), training and improvement (3).
• Programs and publications: research and documentation (3), educational activities and programs (4.5).
• Marketing and partnership: networking and community partnerships (3), publicity and marketing (3).
• Total score: 36 points.

• Complete all sections of the most current version of the application form and include the attachments indicated.
• Ensure the application is signed by someone with signing authority for the organization.
• Use the Pre-Application Checklist to confirm organizational eligibility.
• Submit all documentation to archaeology-heritage@gnb.ca.

• Incomplete applications may not be considered until all other applications have been reviewed and processed.
• Late applications may not be accepted.
• Successful applicants must acknowledge the support of the provincial government in all promotional material associated with the grant.
• Societies must apply for funding every year and provide an annual activity report.
• If awarded a grant, the recipient’s name, community, program name and grant amount will be published on the provincial government website and in the Department’s annual report.

• The government’s email system has a 35 MB attachment limit; larger files will not be delivered.
• The automatic acknowledgement of receipt does not confirm that all information and attachments were received.
