  • Printing, design, layout, copyediting, indexing, proofreading, and digital conversion
  • Researching, writing, editing, materials, and non-local travel
  • Conference materials, speaker honoraria, and travel for eligible events
  • Cultural protocol costs such as gifts to Elders and sharing circles

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Project development, including research and writing for heritage awareness projects
  • Marketing, promotion, distribution, fundraising, administration, and grant preparation
  • Reprinting previously funded publications
  • Books, equipment, and office-related costs
  • Hosting, volunteer appreciation, subsistence, and living expenses

  • Applications are reviewed by staff of the Historic Resources Management Branch
  • Funding recommendations are provided to the Minister
  • The Minister makes the funding decision
