Heritage grant application and contacts updated
The Heritage Conservation and Celebration Grant application form now instructs applicants to review the policy and preview the application before submitting, and it says applications are ongoing with monthly consideration. The page also now exposes more application sections and required applicant or property details, with a new preview PDF link shown. Several heritage pages also lost visible Contact Us blocks, removing township mailing address, phone, and email details from those pages. The Scugog heritage grant materials still show the same funding terms at 50% matching support, with up to $10,000 per property on the Heritage Conservation District Grant Program and up to $5,000 for the Heritage Celebration and Conservation Grant, while the district grant application deadline remains 1 week before a regularly scheduled Heritage Advisory Committee meeting for 2025 consideration.

How to apply
- Read and review the Township of Scugog – 2025 Heritage Conservation Grant Program.
- Prepare a draft application with as much information as possible to describe the proposed project.
- Submit the draft application for consultation by email to grants@scugog.ca.
- After pre-consultation, finalize the application and include professional drawings, two contractor quotes, and any other details requested.
- Submit the finalized application to Township Staff.
Processing and Agreement
- The Heritage committee will review the proposal(s) and provide applicants with comments/input shortly thereafter.
- The committee will review the final applications and recommendations will be forwarded to Council for their review and consideration, and all grants will require approval by Council.
- Applicants who secure grant approval will be required to enter into a Grant Agreement/ Letter of Understanding with the Township, and the agreement must be signed and returned to the Township.
- If an application is unsuccessful, a letter will be sent confirming that a grant will not be issued.
- When the work to the building’s façade has been completed, the applicant must submit copies of all paid invoices for approved work as well as photographs of the new façade.

- A grant agreement must be signed before work begins.
- Approved work may also require heritage, building, or planning approvals.
