Overview
The Growing Greenhouses Program supports year-round availability of locally grown food by accelerating Alberta’s controlled environment agriculture sector, offering up to $4 million per applicant (2025–2028) with a $2 million per fiscal year cap on a 50% reimbursement basis. Eligible activities include purchasing, installing, and commissioning high-efficiency technologies—and related operator training—such as renewable and efficient energy, advanced lighting systems, energy-saving construction, automation and robotics, and engineering and installation.

- Projects to increase the productivity of an existing vertical farm (including operator training for the new technologies).
- Projects to purchase, install and commission high-efficiency technologies for greenhouses or vertical farms (and train operators) in areas such as renewable/efficient energy, advanced lighting, energy-saving construction, automation & robotics, and engineering/installation.
