Overview
The Green Construction through Wood (GCWood) program offers non-repayable contributions of up to $1.4 million to support innovative wood-based building technologies that advance Canada's emissions reduction goals. Eligible activities include the demonstration of tall or low-rise wood structures, timber bridges, prefabricated and modular buildings, retrofits, and the use of advanced bio-based building products.
Financing terms and conditions
- Non-repayable contributions of up to $1.4 million per project for eligible costs.

- Demonstration of innovative wood-based construction technologies in new and existing buildings.
- Development and implementation of schematic designs using advanced wood construction systems.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a legal entity incorporated or registered in Canada.
- Eligible applicants include for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, such as companies, industry associations, research associations, and standards associations.
- Indigenous organizations and groups are eligible.
- Provincial, territorial, regional, and municipal governments and their departments or agencies are eligible where applicable.
- The project must support innovative wood-based building technologies that contribute to emissions reduction, affordable housing, or infrastructure needs.

Submit Expression of Interest online
- Log in to the NRCan Online Submission Portal with a GCKey
- Start a new Expression of Interest (EOI) for the applicable stream
- Copy prepared responses into the online form
- Save your progress frequently during submission
- Submit the EOI before the current application window deadline

Await EOI review and FPP invitation
- Wait for GCWood staff to review your Expression of Interest
- If selected, receive a link and editable form to submit a Full Project Proposal (FPP)
- Prepare required supporting documentation (e.g., business financials, project plans)

Submit Full Project Proposal
- Complete and submit the Full Project Proposal (FPP) through the provided link
- Ensure all additional information and documentation are attached
- Applications will be assessed against program criteria as outlined in the guidebook
