Who is eligible?
- Alleyway committees formed by local residents.
Eligible expenses
- Site development work, including removing asphalt to make way for plants and outdoor furniture.

- Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Anjou, Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Lachine, LaSalle, Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Le Sud-Ouest, L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montréal-Nord, Outremont, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Saint-Laurent, Saint-Léonard, Verdun, Ville-Marie, and Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension.
Selection criteria
- Neighbourhood mobilisation.
- Ecological value of the project.
- Applications are considered in line with the date the file is received.
How to apply
- Send an e-mail to Ville en vert to find out whether the alleyway is public.
- Form an alleyway committee.
- Mobilize your neighbours; at least 55 per cent of local residents must be in favour of the project.
- Submit the application to your borough or local éco-quartier.
Processing and Agreement
- The borough evaluates the project after submission.
- If a project proposes closing one or more access points to automobile traffic, it is subject to a neighbourhood survey and must then be approved by borough council.
- Selected projects move on to a participatory design meeting with the alleyway committee and landscape architects.
- The borough takes charge of excavation work, and the project then proceeds to planting and implementation.

- The borough may provide material and financial assistance for site development work.
- The éco-quartier can support the committee with planning and coordination.
- The alleyway committee also oversees maintenance of the green alleyway.
