Grants and Special Assistance

• Complete list of Board, Executive, or Committee members, including their roles and contact information
• Constituting documents, such as Constitution, By-laws, or Letters of Incorporation
• Most recent annual audit financial statements or those qualified by a professional accountant, including at minimum a Balance Sheet and Income Statement
• Interim financial statements for the current fiscal year
• Budget for the year the grant is being applied for

Who is eligible?

• Local agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and service groups
• Non-profit organizations for Annual Capital Grants and Annual Operating Grants
• Eligible individuals and organizations for Arts & Culture, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, and Special Event grants
• Individuals or sports teams for Travel Assistance grants

Who is not eligible

• Commercial businesses
• For-profit groups
• Individuals for annual capital and operating grants
• School sports teams for travel assistance

Eligible expenses

• Purchase of an asset for a Capital Grant
• Delivery of programs and services within the community
• Travel expenses for travel to provincial, national or international competitions
• Fees or charges levied by the Township for the use of facilities

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Commercial or for-profit activities
• Operating deficits and previous-year deficits
• Activities that duplicate other services
• Funding used to give grants, donations, scholarships, or bursaries to others
• Fundraising events as the main purpose of special assistance requests

Eligible geographic areas

• Township of Woolwich

• The approval body gives priority consideration to applications from local or Region-wide organizations or individuals that are deemed to provide an essential service.

• First-time Annual Operating Grant applicants, first-time Annual Capital Grant applicants, and organizations with significant changes in purpose/mission, constitution/by-laws, or services must complete and submit the Annual Grant Eligibility Form during the application period.
• Annual Operating Grant and Annual Capital Grant applicants must complete and submit the Annual Grant Application during the application period.
• Arts & Culture, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, Travel Assistance, and Special Event applicants must complete the relevant application form.

• The Township may request further information or clarification as needed.
• A Grants Reporting Form will be provided to all returning applicants following submission of the Grant Application.
• The Grants Reporting Form must be filled out and submitted prior to the receipt of any successful grant awards.
• If any required attachments are missing, the application will be designated as incomplete and Council will be made aware.
• If a requested document cannot be attached, a separate sheet must be attached to explain why it is not possible to fulfill the requirement.

• All information submitted in a grant application becomes public information and will be shared with the public upon request.
• The Township may request further information or clarification as needed.
• Most Grant Applications will require a detailed Budget Submission.
• A Sample Budget may be downloaded and filled out, or the organization may include its own budget sheet.
