Who is eligible?
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
- Active housing-related researchers.
- Applicants in good standing with CMHC.

Selection criteria
- Innovation (30%) and research rigour (20%).
- Relevance (15%) and impact (15%).
- Knowledge dissemination plan (20%).
- The scores from each question are weighted and converted into a percentage; the recommended recipient is the highest-scoring applicant among those scoring at least 80% and with no criteria marked Not recommended.
How to apply
- Create an online profile and record of your application in the CMHC Portal.

Processing and Agreement
- CMHC reviews submitted applications for eligibility, completeness, and supporting documentation.
- Applications submitted on or before the deadline are opened and reviewed for verification by CMHC.
- If CMHC cannot open an application, it will contact the applicant and allow a resubmission within 2 hours of notification.
- CMHC contacts applicants to confirm whether their application will move on to the review committee.
- Funding is conditional on signing a recipient award agreement, and the lead applicant must submit a report within 6 months of funding disbursement.
