- Applicants who already hold more than two Globalink Research Awards or Mitacs summer awards.
- Applicants who are already participating in another Mitacs internship at the same time.

How to apply
- Step 1: Review guidelines
- Review Mitacs eligibility and award guidelines.
- Confirm the Canadian institution’s rules and endorsement process.
- Step 2: Connect with supervisors
- Discuss the project with the home and host professors.
- Canadian supervisors must obtain institutional endorsement before preparing the application.
- Step 3: Complete the portal application
- Fill in all fields in the application portal.
- Submit the research proposal and the Mitacs Pre-Departure form.
- All participants must enter their information and sign off on the project.
- Step 4: Obtain university signatures
- Secure the required Canadian university signatures.
- Allow time for institutional sign-off before submission.
- Step 5: Submit the application
- Submit the completed application through the portal.
- Local Mitacs advisors, Canadian supervisors, and the intern who created the application may submit it.
- Wait for the confirmation email after submission.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed through an assessment process.
- Applicants receive an outcome letter after review.
- If approved, an award letter is issued before travel can begin, and interns should not leave the host country during an internship unit.
- Mitacs will provide the research grant to the Canadian institution once all necessary documentation has been received, and projects must begin within one year of the outcome letter being issued.
- Projects with a second unit must end within two years of the start date of the first unit, and all participants must submit an exit survey after completion.
