Globalink Research Award: New IISc partner details
The Globalink Research Award page now includes a new India partner funding section for the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc), with its own eligible faculty group, university scope, and sector coverage. Who is eligible?
- Full-time senior undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows at eligible Canadian institutions or eligible international institutions.
Who is not eligible
- Applicants who are not full-time senior undergraduates, graduate students, or postdoctoral fellows.
- Applicants who already hold more than two Globalink Research Awards or Mitacs summer awards.
- Applicants who are already participating in another Mitacs internship at the same time.

Selection criteria
- Applications are assessed by external reviewers.
- Review questions guide the evaluation of the proposal.
How to apply
- Review all eligibility and award guidelines from Mitacs and the Canadian institution.
- Participants connect with one another to discuss project interests; Mitacs does not connect interested interns and academic supervisors.
- Academic supervisors at Canadian institutions obtain endorsement from the Canadian institution before preparing the application.
- Complete the application in the portal, including the research proposal and the Mitacs Pre-Departure form, and have all participants log in again and sign off on the project.
- Obtain the Canadian university signature, with the Vice President Research or designate signature required for the Allocation stream, not required for the Quantum stream, and the Office of Research Services or designate signature required on all completed applications; allow 1 to 3 weeks to obtain the appropriate university signatures.
- Submit the complete application 12 to 16 weeks prior to the project start date through the portal by the local Mitacs Advisor, academic supervisors at Canadian institutions, or the intern who created the application.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed through an assessment process.
- Applicants receive an outcome letter after review.
- If approved, an award letter is issued before travel can begin, and interns should not leave the host country during an internship unit.
- Mitacs will provide the research grant to the Canadian institution once all necessary documentation has been received, and projects must begin within one year of the outcome letter being issued.
- Projects with a second unit must end within two years of the start date of the first unit, and all participants must submit an exit survey after completion.

- Applications may be submitted in English or French.
- Applicants should apply at least 16 weeks before the planned start date.
- Outcome letters are typically issued 10 to 12 weeks after submission.
