Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Projects that focus exclusively on data collection and not data use; service delivery or health care; procurement of medicine or other health care products.
  • Projects related to contact tracing or the delivery of COVID-19 relief or other services; personal protective goods; laboratory equipment; biological analysis.
  • Individual study or training; increasing the salaries of existing ministry of health personnel, salary offset is acceptable; lobbying.
  • Capital expenses; vehicles; computer or other electronic equipment unless intrinsic to the project; new construction.

Selection criteria

  • Projects must have discrete and measurable deliverables aligned to the objectives of the Data for Health Initiative.

How to apply

  • Download the application guidance document.
  • Submit a project idea for initial screening through Fluxx.
  • If the project idea meets the goals and mission of the GGP, prepare the full application using the relevant template.
  • Upload the workplan in the last section of the application and identify a fiscal mechanism such as a fiscal agent or subgrantee.
  • Submit the application online via Fluxx; only applications received via Fluxx will be reviewed.

Processing and Agreement

  • Project ideas are reviewed by the GGP team, and comments may be provided to applicants invited to submit an application.
  • Status updates or requests for more information are shared via email throughout the review process.
  • An advancement to workshopping letter will be sent out with immediate next steps and contact information.
  • The fiscal agent or subgrantee will be issued a draft agreement for the project, and a decision regarding the need for a memorandum of understanding will be made.
  • All country teams are required to submit monthly reports on project progress and quarterly reports on spending.

Additional information

  • We are not currently accepting applications; check back in the fall for updates on future opportunities.
  • Project ideas and applications must be submitted in English.
  • Language support will be provided at the start of a project, if selected for funding.
  • Grants will not be renewed, but country teams may submit applications to future rounds to scale up previously funded work.
