Overview
The Genomics Integration Program provides funding of up to $150,000 to support projects that establish proof of concept for tools, products, services, or processes using genomics or other omics sciences in sectors such as agriculture, biofood, forestry, and the environment. The program aims to foster partnerships between academic researchers and non-academic partners to drive the implementation, commercialization, or further development of innovative solutions addressing sector needs.
Financing terms and conditions
- Grant funding ranges from $50,000 to $150,000 per project, allocated exclusively to the academic partner.
- Total project budget must range between $100,000 and $300,000 or more.
- Applicants must secure co-funding at a minimum 1:1 ratio from sources outside the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie du Québec (MEIE); in-kind contributions are permitted if they are conducted in Quebec.
Activities funded
- Establishing proof of concept for tools, products, services, or processes that incorporate genomics or other omics sciences.
- Developing solutions to address specific needs in sectors such as agriculture, biofood, forestry, environment, fisheries, energy, or mining (excluding human health).
- Facilitating the transfer of project results towards implementation or commercialization of genomics-based innovations.
- Supporting collaborative projects between academic research and non-academic partners aimed at applying omics technologies to real-world challenges.

Eligibility
- The project team must include at least one researcher affiliated with a Quebec research institute (university, CCTT, or nonprofit with a research mandate) and one non-academic partner (such as a private company, industrial consortium, nonprofit, or government agency) responsible for implementing or commercializing the results.
- All non-academic organizations, regardless of size, are eligible if they can demonstrate the ability to use, implement, or commercialize the project outcomes.
- The project must focus on agriculture, biofood, forestry, environment, fisheries, energy, mining, or related fields, but not human health.
- The project must integrate at least one omics technology (e.g., genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics).
- The applicant must secure co-funding at a minimum 1:1 ratio from sources other than the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie du Québec (MEIE).

Assemble required co-funding
- Secure co-funding at a minimum 1:1 ratio from sources other than the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie du Québec
- Gather commitment letters or support documentation for both cash and in-kind contributions conducted in Quebec

Prepare application documents
- Prepare your project documents using the Program Overview, Application Form, Financial Guidelines, Letter of Support, and Budget template
- Ensure all information and attachments meet program instructions

Activate application portal account
- Contact Génome Québec to obtain or activate your submission account for the application portal
- Confirm access and login credentials prior to submission

Submit the application
- Submit the completed application and required documents via the Génome Québec application portal
- Ensure all materials are submitted before the deadline: October 20, 2025, 11:59 PM (ET)

Await results notification
- Wait for the results and any communications from Génome Québec regarding your application status
- Be prepared to respond to follow-up inquiries if necessary
Additional information
- Grant funds are disbursed exclusively to the academic partner.
- Each researcher may only submit one application as principal investigator per cycle.
- In-kind contributions are accepted if conducted in Quebec, with supporting letters required.
