Who is eligible?
- Post-secondary institutions and affiliated hospitals or research institutes in British Columbia
- Regional health authorities in British Columbia
- BC-based laboratories of federal government departments or agencies
- Non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia with a research or knowledge translation mandate
Who is not eligible
- B.C. provincial government laboratories
- Companies or organizations without a BC-based eligible institutional affiliation
- Applicants already leading an active SIP-funded project
- Project Leaders listed on more than one application for the same intake
Eligible expenses
- Salaries and benefits for eligible team members, project coordination, and administration.
- Consumables, research materials, travel for research activities, and equipment service contracts.
- External services, including fee-for-service arrangements and intellectual property protection services.
- General and administrative costs directly linked to the project, and equipment purchases meeting program rules.

- Indirect costs and institutional overhead.
- Opportunity cost of using existing infrastructure.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by external reviewers and undergo financial due diligence.
- Genome BC may modify the review process as needed.
- Applicants receive written reviews after the decision process.
- Successful applicants receive a Notice of Results with conditions before project launch.
- Funding begins only after all release conditions are met, and progress updates are required during the project term.
