- If claiming salaries, travel expenses, or machinery costs: salary journal, timesheets or exit sheets, collective agreement or employment contract, municipal resolution or travel policy, fuel invoices or records, and a repair or maintenance invoice with justification when needed

Eligible expenses
- Temporary preventive measures, including sandbag installation and removal, a temporary dike, or a temporary trench
- Intervention measures during imminent danger of submersion, erosion, or ground movement, up to 5,000 $ per affected building
- Intervention and recovery measures, including evacuation, temporary shelter, emergency signage, and debris cleanup
- Stabilization of a municipal land or transferred land, notary fees related to acquiring a transferred land, demolition, debris removal, and backfilling
- Coordination, supply, and support expenses for community organizations assisting disaster victims
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Flood-affected buildings that have already received financial assistance since 10 April 2019 to be immunized or moved

How to apply
- Step 1: Check the eligible disaster
- Verify that the event appears on the list of eligible disasters.
- Check the deadline to submit the claim.
- Step 2: Prepare the claim
- Complete the applicable claim form.
- Gather the required supporting documents.
- Step 3: Submit the application
- Send the signed form and documents by email or by mail.
- If the deadline has passed, explain in writing why it was not possible to apply earlier.
- Step 4: Follow up with the ministry
- Provide any additional information requested by the Ministry of Public Security.
- Obtain prior approval before starting major works, when required.
Processing and Agreement
- After the application is analyzed, an advance covering up to 90% of the estimated assistance may be granted
- Before major works, approval from the Ministry of Public Security must be obtained to ensure eligibility
- For municipalities, partial or final payment may be made after the work is completed and supporting documents are accepted
- For community organizations, partial or final payment may be made after supporting documents are accepted
- The ministry may request purchase orders and copies of payment cheques
