Overview

Provides up to $500,000 USD in early-stage design funding. Supports feasibility studies or proof-of-concept for innovative blended finance vehicles integrating gender equality into climate mitigation and/or adaptation in emerging markets.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must propose a blended finance vehicle focused on the intersection of climate change and gender equality in emerging markets.
  • The vehicle must aim to mobilize private sector capital at scale for gender-responsive climate mitigation and/or adaptation.
  • Gender equality must be integrated into the vehicle’s design, implementation, and operations.
  • The proposed approach must align at minimum with SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
  • The application must be for feasibility study funding or proof-of-concept funding.

Selection criteria

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete questionnaire
    • Fill out the design funding questionnaire on the program website before drafting an application.
  • Step 2: Alignment call
    • After submitting the questionnaire, schedule a brief call with the Convergence team to confirm alignment with objectives and mission.
    • If available, share a concept note or presentation ahead of the call.
  • Step 3: Submit draft for feedback
    • Send a draft proposal at least 2 weeks before the submission deadline.
    • Use the standard feasibility study or proof-of-concept template provided for the Window.
    • Incorporate feedback provided within 7 business days.
  • Step 4: Submit final proposal
    • Submit the final proposal using the link provided via email.

  • The Window is funded by the Government of Canada.
  • The focus is on the climate change and gender equality nexus in emerging markets.
  • Supported vehicles are expected to align at minimum with SDG 5, SDG 13, and SDG 17.
