Eligible expenses
- Student and non-student salaries or stipends for project work.
- Project coordination or management costs.
- Travel and subsistence related to the research.
- Professional or technical services tied directly to the project.
- Supplies, software, and equipment not provided by the host institution.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects whose main objective is curriculum development.
- Payments to project directors, co-directors, co-applicants, or collaborators for their own work.
- Consulting fees paid to team members or to their own companies.
- Alcoholic beverages.
- Administrative services normally provided by the institution.

How to apply
- Step 1: Prepare the application
- Review the funding opportunity description and application instructions.
- Prepare the research proposal, budget, CVs and supporting documents.
- Step 2: Complete the Convergence Portal form
- Sign in to the Convergence Portal.
- Select the funding opportunity and complete the required application sections.
- Upload the required attachments and verify all participant profiles.
- Step 3: Submit through the institution
- Finalize and submit the application to the research administrator.
- Wait for the research administrator to approve and forward the application to the agency.
- Step 4: After submission
- Track the submission status in the portal.
- No further edits can be made once the application is received by the agency.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed through a merit review process.
- Selection is made by WAGE based on available funds and committee recommendations.
- Only projects aligned with the initiative’s themes are considered for funding.
- Successful applicants receive a notice of award and reporting requirements.
- Grant holders must comply with program and agency conditions during the project.
Additional information
- One-year automatic extension available without additional funding.
- Grant holders must report on funded activities and outcomes.
- Research results should be made openly available whenever possible.
