How to apply

  • Review the Film Guidelines to learn how to plan a successful shoot in Hamilton and contact the Film Office to discuss your plans.
  • Contact the Film Office if you are unsure which type of film permit you need for your shoot.
  • Road Closure application packages must be submitted at least 10 business days before planned filming.
  • Requests to alter, remove or control traffic signs must be submitted to the Film Office at least 5 business days ahead of filming.
  • Notify the Film Office if your filming activity will involve drone operations (Remotely Piloted Aircraft or RPAs) and to obtain a film permit.

Processing and Agreement

  • The City of Hamilton will inform the operator of the particulars of the default and provide a period of time in which to fix the situation.
  • If any of these defaults have occurred the City may at any time take one or more of these actions: Initiate any action necessary in order to facilitate the continuation or provision of services; Suspend payment of funds; Reduce amount of funds; Demand repayment of funds; Terminate agreement.
  • Licensees have the right to appeal decisions. Appeals must be made in writing via email to ccss@hamilton.ca.
  • The City of Hamilton’s Director of Children’s and Community Services Division will review all appeals in a fair and equitable manner by following the guidelines and legislation determined by Ontario’s Ministry of Education, alongside the policies and practices determined by the City of Hamilton.
  • Licensees will be notified of a decision on an appeal within 14 business days.
