The Program Highlights and Funding Information PDF now shows the 2026-2027 program year and updates the full-time student aid rules effective Aug. 1, 2026, including a new exclusion for most students at for-profit private institutions for the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students and a narrower New Brunswick residency eligibility for study periods starting Aug. 1, 2026. That same PDF also indicates updated 2026-2027 funding tables and living allowance information, and the help or portal reference has moved to gnb.ca/studentaid. The Request for Program Information Intersession and/or Summer Session Studies form now says to return the completed form to the student for submission, uses updated 2026 sample study-period dates, and points applicants to the revised GNB.ca/StudentAid site label.

Who is eligible?
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected persons, and individuals registered under the Indian Act
- New Brunswick residents
- Full-time students enrolled or qualified to enroll in approved degree, diploma, or certificate programs at designated post-secondary schools
- Students taking at least 60% of a full course load, or 40% with a permanent disability or persistent or prolonged disability
Who is not eligible
- International students who are neither permanent residents nor protected persons
- Students enrolled at private for-profit international institutions for study periods starting August 1, 2026 or later, except students who continue in the same program of study at the same institution and remain eligible for federal student financial assistance until July 31, 2029
- Most students attending for-profit private institutions for the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students beginning on August 1, 2026
- Students in non-degree programs, qualifying years, or academic upgrading
- Students in courses that are not a requirement of the program of study, or in practical training after graduating, such as medical internship or residency, dietetic internship or legal articling

How to apply
- Submit documentation electronically by visiting gnb.ca/studentaid and selecting Upload a Document.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are normally processed within two to four weeks after all documents are submitted.
- Applicants receive a Notice of Assessment with the funding amount and payment timing.
- First-time applicants must complete the Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement.
- The school must confirm enrolment before funds are released.
- Funds may be sent partly to the school and partly to the student.
